It begins with a question: what makes people willing to risk their lives and others' lives for a haircut or manicure? Our understanding of the novel coronavirus is limited. What is clear is that social isolation is the most effective way to minimize the risk of spreading the disease and overwhelming our resources. Salons are not considered essential, and yet people are adamant about having them open up before we have this pandemic under control. Ricci Joy Levy and Rachel Klechevsky will discuss the survival mechanisms behind risk-taking for beauty and learning how to sit with discomfort. They will address how this discomfort is actually an avenue to self-actualization and a means for value clarification.
